What's new

What has actually shipped on ArenaGOATs, newest first. The ladder, the rating engine and the stat pages change often — this is the record of what changed, and why it changed.

Everything here is live on the site right now. For telling us something looks wrong, the community is on Discord.

  1. Seasons

    New

The ladder runs in seasons now. At every boundary each rating compresses toward the middle — hardest at the very top — and the uncertainty around it re-opens, so early games move you about twice as fast. The climb is genuinely open again.

    How the reset works
  2. The GOAT Wall

    New

Every season that closes is etched permanently: its GOAT, the podium, the board exactly as it stood. Nothing on the wall is ever recalculated.

  3. Season trophies, and a receipt

    New

Your profile keeps a shelf of every season you finished — crest, rating, rank. And where a season turned, your match history shows the receipt: your numbers going in, your numbers coming out.

  4. Seasons, everywhere

    Improved

A season picker sits beside every board, and each closed season keeps its own address stamped Final. The champion, item and synergy pages filter by season too.

  5. Five games to the board

    Improved

The floor for appearing on the ladder dropped from fifteen rated games to five. A fresh season now fills in over days instead of weeks.

    Every constant, published
  6. The nightly rebuild survives the crawler

    Fixed

The job that re-derives every rating and the crawler that ingests new matches were taking the same locks in different orders. A collision threw away whatever the rebuild had done — once eight hours in. They take their locks in one step now, and a batch that loses retries.

  1. One rating, everywhere you look

    Fixed

Your header, your chart and the ladder could each give a different answer. A rating and its history now always come from the same pass, and anything still rebuilding says pending instead of showing you a superseded number.

  2. Tell us we are wrong

    New

The community Discord is in the footer of every page. Bug reports and “this number looks wrong” reach us there fastest.

    About the site
  1. New games stop waiting behind old ones

    Improved

Filling in one player’s back catalogue used to crowd out everyone else’s fresh matches. Deep history now fills in around live play instead of ahead of it.

  1. arenagoats.gg is live

    New

The site left the laptop it was built on. The ladder, every tracked profile, the champion and synergy pages and the published rating method — all public, on real hardware.

    The Arena ladder
  2. Rated in minutes, not overnight

    New

Most Arena games are found behind the ladder’s rating frontier, so they used to sit unrated until the nightly rebuild — one player waited twelve hours for eighteen matches. A micro-replay now rewinds the affected slice of the board and re-rates forward every few minutes.

  3. The leaderboard loads fast again

    Fixed

Postgres had lost the statistics its query planner depends on, so the board was walking every tracked player on every request — twenty seconds cold. They are refreshed nightly now, and the same query is an index lookup measured in milliseconds.

  4. Augments and items, graded

    Improved

Riot’s policy does not allow publishing augment and item win rates, so we serve letter grades computed from the same match data. The underlying number never leaves the server.

  1. Matches rated against the right teams

    Fixed

Riot returns Arena participants in row order, which is not team order — so a match could be rated as though the wrong three players had been a team. They are sorted into their real subteams before the engine ever sees them.

  2. A champion card that knows your record

    New

Hover a champion anywhere a player is in context and their own record leads — games, win, top-3, average place. The champion’s ladder record follows underneath as the yardstick.

  3. Legal pages, and data removal

    New

Terms, privacy and attribution shipped. The crawler also notices a deleted Riot account and purges what we hold about it.

  4. A young patch stops pretending

    Improved

On patch day a three-game sample could top the tier list. Thin samples no longer lead, and a page reading a barely-played patch says so.

  1. The whole rating method, published

    New

Every constant the engine runs on is on the methodology page, read live out of the engine rather than transcribed. It also labels which numbers came from our own archive and which are still reasoned defaults.

    Read the methodology
  2. AFK thresholds, measured

    Improved

A teammate who stops playing costs you less, and the thresholds that decide what counts as AFK come from our own archive instead of a reasonable guess. Every match shows which adjustments moved your rating, and by how much.

    The adjustment stages
  3. Patch notes as Arena plays them

    New

The global notes state Rift values, and Arena runs its own items over its own champion tuning — so this page carries the Arena section and nothing else. One card per change, old value beside new.

  1. First light

    New

A crawler following live Arena matches, a rating engine built for a six-team placement rather than a win or a loss, and a leaderboard to put them on. Running for nobody but us.

Everything dated before July 30 was built before the site was public. It is listed because it is what the ladder was made of on the day players arrived.
